Papa San, Jamaica

"One Awesome Day" Sunday May 30, Farley Hill National Park, 1:00 p.m.

Papa San is an internationally renowned, Jamaican Gospel reggae and dancehall singer, songwriter and producer who committed his life to Jesus Christ in 1997 after receiving what he describes as a “supernatural visitation”.

In the wake of his rebirth the content of Papa San’s songs changed to reflect his newfound faith in God. However, the mighty grooves, unforgettable hooks and mile-a-minute words and rhymes which had previously distinguished him in the world of dancehall and reggae, continue to captivate audiences around the world.

In this new chapter of a career that has spanned more than 20 years, Papa San has shared the stage with various artistes including Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Yolanda Adams, J Moss, Fred Hammond, Trinitee 5:7, Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker, and BeBe & CeCe Winans, among others. His latest album “Higher Heights”, featuring collaborations with other top Gospel artistes including Alvin Slaughter, Canton Jones and Toby Mac was released in 2008 and has been described as one of his best ever.

Says Papa San: “I want to see souls saved for the Kingdom and not just a few, but millions! It’s as simple as that. The music is the bait to draw all those who don’t know Him, but the message is what will grab them. And once you have found and are holding onto Him, you never want to let go. That's who and all I am about.”
