Positive, Trinidad & Tobago

A unique blend of reggae and Gospel is the foundation of the music of Positive. A Caribbean artiste from the twin-island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, Positive began his on-stage musical career in 2006 with a well received performance at the CARIFESTA Music Festival.

In 2007 he exploded on the musical scene with his smash hit single “Never Let Go”, remaining at number one on the Gospel hit list for more than half the year. It didn’t take long before it skyrocketed onto the main stream reggae charts in Trinidad & Tobago. Positive’s music and this signature style piqued the interest of Lion of Judah Sounds and they offered the young performer, writer and producer a record deal in January 2008.

Not long after the song permeated the regional and international markets, including Costa Rica, the United States, Canada, Europe, England, Mexico, Barbados, Grenada, Bahamas and many others. The sensational success of the single “Never Let Go” was followed by the release of two other highly successful singles, “Hold Me Closely” and “Rain in the Ghetto” which continue to receive international airplay. In September 2009 Positive released his debut album entitled Never Let Go. It completely dominated the charts, immediately jumping on the local top 10.

Numerous local and regional opportunities have pushed Positive to become one of the most sought-after new artists in the Gospel reggae arena. The sky is still not the limit for this young man as he continues to make leaps into new arena always setting a new bench mark. Positive is on a bid to take his music to the world, with a message of positivity and an energy to transform the mere concept of the effect of music on the lives of individuals. He believes positive music will bring about a positive outcome, just as negativity-influenced music will do the opposite.

Positive has been nominated for 8 Marlin Awards and was named “New Artist of the Year” in 2010.
