Hymnspeak
Description
Located in the heart of the historic capital city of Bridgetown, St. Mary's Church was built in 1825 and is the second oldest consecrated ground in Barbados. This year the church will host the Barbados Gospelfest Hymnspeak, a unique event featuring a combined choir comprising members of several local churches. Under the direction of Reverend Mikie Roberts and accompanied by organist, John Bryan, the choir is enhanced by a special blend of talented musicians as they touch, inspire and uplift an eclectic audience of locals and visitors. An especially poignant element of the event is the active participation of the audience in the singing of the hymns, some of which are brought to life through dramatisation. Always an evening to remember, some of the proceeds from Hymnspeak go to aid the work of the Salvation Army in Barbados and to support other worthwhile causes.
